Advanced Black Generation  

Advanced Black Generation allows you to add GCR tables and Gray Balance profiles for any of the following data types:

  • CMYK Image GCR
  • CMYK Vector GCR
  • RGB Image GCR
  • RGB Vector GCR
  • CMYK Gray Balance
  • RGB Gray Balance

 

Use the drop-down arrows for each data type to select your GCR or Gray Balance options.

 

You can access [Advanced Black Generation] options (Figure 1) through the [Output] tab of the" ICC Profiles Setup" dialog

 

(Job Editor)

  1. Select the [Printer and Media ] Tab.
  2. Click [Change Profiles...] button.
  3. Select the [Output] tab.
  4. Click the [Advanced Black Generation] button.

 

(RIP-Queue)

  1. 1. Highlight a printer and click “Configure Printer” icon on the toolbar. This opens “Configure Printer” dialog.

  2. 2. In the [Quick Sets] tab, click [Edit] button. This opens “Edit Quick Set” dialog．

  3. Click the [Change Profiles...] button. This opens the” ICC Profile Setup” dialog.
  4. Select the [Output] tab, then click [Advanced Black Generation] button.

 

A Black Generation (GCR) profile controls how black is generated in the image by adjusting the balance of process and primary black, as well as the total ink limit. A Black Generation (GCR) table functions the same as a Black Generation (GCR) Profile. The only difference is that a Black Generation table is created using the [Custom] setting in the GCR drop-down menu, and a Black Generation profile is created in Media Manager.

 

Select from the available GCR options for each data type:

  • No GCR Selected - This option applies no GCR settings to the data type.
  • Default GCR - This option applies the default GCR settings.
  • Custom - This option allows you to edit the GCR settings. When using this option, click [Edit] to open the "Edit GCR" dialog (Figure 2). See Edit GCR for more information.

 

Gray Balance adjusts the levels of C, M, or Y in order to get a balanced gray. Because ICC profiles do this automatically, only use this if you are not using an ICC profile.

 

Select from the available Gray Balance options for each data type:

  • No Gray Balance Selected - This option applies no Gray Balance settings to the data type.
  • Default Gray Balance - This option applies the default Gray Balance settings.
